Palworld Paldex — The Full Pal List Explained
The Paldex is your in-game encyclopedia of every Pal. Here is what each entry tracks — element, rarity, and work suitability — and how to read it while planning a breeding project.

The Paldex is Palworld's built-in encyclopedia. Every Pal you catch, hatch, or defeat gets an entry, and each entry is a compact summary of everything that Pal can do. Learn to read it and you stop guessing which Pal fits a job, an element matchup, or a breeding line — the answer is already sitting in the entry.
What a Paldex entry actually tells you
Each entry packs several fields that matter far beyond bragging rights about completion percentage. When you are planning a base or a breeding project, these are the ones to read:
- Paldex number. The catalog order. It is handy shorthand for referring to a specific Pal, and it groups related and evolved forms near each other.
- Element. Every Pal carries one or two of the nine elements — Neutral, Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Ice, Ground, Dragon, or Dark. This drives combat matchups and is the first thing to check when you build a team. See the element types guide for the full chart.
- Rarity. Entries are grouped into four broad tiers — Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Rarity is a rough signal of how hard a Pal is to obtain, not a strict power ranking.
- Work suitabilities. The jobs a Pal can do at your base — kindling, watering, mining, handiwork, and so on — each with a level. This is the field that decides whether a Pal earns its spot on a work team.
The nine elements at a glance
| Element | Typical role |
|---|---|
| Neutral | No elemental weakness of its own; dependable all-rounders. |
| Fire | Strong against Grass and Ice; drives kindling work. |
| Water | Strong against Fire; the backbone of watering teams. |
| Electric | Strong against Water; powers generator work. |
| Grass | Strong against Ground; common early planters and gatherers. |
| Ice | Strong against Dragon; useful against tough late bosses. |
| Ground | Strong against Electric; reliable mining workers. |
| Dragon | Hits hard broadly but is weak to Ice; many endgame mounts. |
| Dark | Strong against Neutral; night-active and often nocturnal. |
Completing the Paldex is a nice goal, but it is not the point. The players who use the Paldex best treat it as a filter, not a checklist — they open it to answer a specific question ("which Pals can mine at level 3?") rather than to fill in blanks for their own sake.
Using the Paldex while breeding
Breeding and the Paldex go hand in hand. Before you commit a pair, the Paldex answers the two questions that decide whether a Pal is worth chasing:
- Does this Pal have the work suitability I need? A Pal is only worth breeding for your base if its entry lists the job — and the level — you are after.
- What element am I working with? Check the entry before you build a combat or mount line so the result actually covers the matchup you have in mind.
Where to look it up
You do not have to have caught a Pal to study it. Our Pal directory mirrors the Paldex — every Pal, its element, its rarity tier, and its work suitabilities, all searchable in one place. Find the Pal you want there, then jump straight into the breeding calculator to see how to breed it, or open its individual breeding page for the exact parent combos. The Paldex tells you what a Pal is; the calculator tells you how to get it.
